Lourdes circa 1960 video

A rediscovered video of Wimbledon College in Lourdes, circa 1960

We recently rediscovered a video of the Wimbledon College Lourdes Hospitalité’s visit to Lourdes, which we thought lost, preserved on the website of the Wimbledon College: Class of 55. The video dates to circa 1960.

A few clips in the video are particularly evocative: the ferry across the Channel, the afternoon procession of the Belgian coalminers, the abri in its unreconstructed state, and the daytrip to Gavarnie, which Fr Ignatius St Lawrence SJ insisted as a day’s break and retreat from our work in Lourdes.
